Questions worth asking
Particularly the ones about money, privacy and who can change what.
- Does the platform hold my money?
- No. KeptPact never holds, stores, transfers or custodies money or assets. It is not a bank, wallet or payment service. You and your group pay each other exactly as you do now; the platform records what happened.
- Can other people see my personal finances?
- No. Your personal income, expenses, budgets and goals are visible to no other user at any level. Not the people you share groups with, not a group admin, and not our staff. A group role shows that group’s shared activity and nothing else.
- Do I have to join a group to use it?
- No. The personal side works entirely on its own, and always will. Groups are there when you want them, not a condition of using the product.
- What stops an admin from quietly changing a record?
- Every change to a financial record is recorded with who made it, what changed, when, and why. Once a payment is confirmed, the record is locked: an admin can still correct a genuine mistake, but it requires a reason and the people affected are told. Financial records cannot be deleted, only voided, and the void is part of the history too.
- What happens if someone says they paid and the admin disagrees?
- That case is built into the product rather than left to argument. A member marks what they paid, an admin confirms receipt, and either side can mark it disputed with a reason. A disputed record stays open and visible until a group admin resolves it, and the resolution is recorded.
- Can anyone with the link join my group?
- No. A link creates a join request, not a membership, and a group admin has to approve it. Until then the person sees nothing at all. A link also only ever admits someone as an ordinary member, never as a manager or admin.
- Can I add someone who has not signed up?
- Yes. An admin can add a member by name and phone number, and that person takes a full part in splits, balances and contributions straight away. When they register later, their history is already waiting for them.
- What does it cost?
- Plans are not set yet, and we would rather say so than publish numbers we intend to change. Because we never touch your money, there will be no transaction fees or percentage cuts of contributions. Pricing will be published in full before anyone is asked to pay.
- When can I use it?
- The web app is in development. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it opens. That is the only thing we will use your address for.
